JEFFERSON CITY - After days of a stalemate, the Missouri House and Senate Conference Committee passed its version of the 2013 budget Wednesday night.
The stalemate was due largely in part to a lack of funding to veterans' housing. A solution was found in giving $30 million from casino entrance fees to veterans' housing. The money given to veterans' housing is typically allocated towards early childhood programs. Those will now be funded from a national tobacco settlement.
Other notable changes include $3 million going to higher education and $25 million to a health care program for the blind.
