Missouri Death Blamed On Hit-and-Run Driver
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- The death of a man who fell from a bridge in south-central Missouri is now being investigated as a hit-and-run.
Pulaski County deputies began looking for 53-year-old Waynesville resident Arley Campbell after he was reported missing Monday.
They followed signals from his cellphone and found his body on a pile of rocks, 40 to 50 feet below the Veterans Bridge over the Gasconade River on Missouri 28.
KYTV reports the circumstances are still being investigated. But detectives believe Campbell was near the southern end of the bridge around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and was hit by a motor vehicle sometime after that, sending him over the railing.
Pulaski County authorities want to hear from anyone with information about the incident or why Campbell was on the bridge at that hour.
