Missouri Football completes coaching staff
COLUMBIA - Missouri Football filled the last opening of head coach Barry Odom's first staff Wednesday, hiring former Arizona State defensive line coach Jackie Shipp to the same position.
Shipp, 53, comes to Mizzou with 25 years of previous coaching experience including stops one season at Alabama (1998), 14 seasons at his alma mater Oklahoma (1999-2012) and most recently three seasons at Arizona State (2013-15). The teams made bowl game apperances in all 18 of those seasons, including four National Championship games at Oklahoma.
During his playing career at Oklahoma, Shipp set the program record for tackles in a game (22) and tackles in a season (189) which both still stand. He was drafted 14th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 1984 NFL Draft, playing in 74 career NFL games over a six-year career.
The hiring of Shipp comes one week after former MU defensive line coach Chris Wilson left the program to take a job with the Philadelphia Eagles.
