Missouri gymnastics ends losing streak, wins quad meet
COLUMBIA- No. 13 Missouri gymnastics ended their three-match losing streak Friday night against No. 13 George Washington, No. 25 Iowa St. and Lindenwood University.
The Tigers (8-3, 1-3 SEC) were led by sophomore Britney Ward, who won vault and beam titles, her team leading sixth and seventh of the season. Ward came into the night tied for the 14th ranked season score on the vault.
Freshman Aspen Tucker scored a 39.175 to place second in the all-around.
This was a needed performance for Mizzou coming off of three straight losses to No. 4 Alabama, No. 12 Georgia and No. 2 LSU.
Missouri opened the meet with a 49.050 on vault, the team's six-consecutive score above a 49. The Tigers also posted a team total of 49.150 on the floor exercise, the second-highest score on the event so far this season.
The Tigers are in action next at the GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational in St. Charles, Missouri Friday, Feb. 17. Mizzou will take on No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU and No. 9 Georgia.
