COLUMBIA - Friday night's high school football games were action packed with high scores, big hits, Hawaiian shirts and homecoming festivities.
Columbia area schools finished the night 2-1 with Hickman and Battle both picking up wins. Battle upended Carnahan 49-28 and Hickman came back to beat Helias. Battle scored 28 unanswered points and improves to 3-1 on that year. Rock Bridge was the one Columbia school to lose, falling to Ray-Pec by a score of 31-21. Both Rock Bridge and Hickman are now 2-2 on the year and meet next week at Hickman High School.
Around Mid-Missouri there were plenty of points! Sixteen games featured more than 50 total points scored. While many of the games were in hand by their end, seven games were won by 10 points or less. Hannibal outlasted Mexico, winning 21-20. Marshall snuck past Kirksville 33-32. And in a defensive battle, Brookfield beat Monroe City 9-6.
