JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City Police Department held a candlelight vigil Friday night to honor Missouri law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty this year.
The vigil was held on the grounds of the Missouri State Capitol and was the first part of an annual ceremony for fallen officers.
A second ceremony will take place on Saturday. Family members will place wreaths and four plaques with the names of fallen officers on the Law Enforcement Memorial.
Governor Jay Nixon and Attorney General Chris Koster are both scheduled to speak at Saturday's ceremony.
