COLUMBIA - Hunters are preparing for firearm season, which begins Saturday.
Some hunting stores in Columbia provide hunters with the proper equipment and ammunition for the new season.
But before hunters can get up in the deer stands, they need to have a signed permit in hand when hunting. The firearm season limits each hunter to one antlered deer, and hunters can get an archer's permit if they want to take additional antlered deer.
"Well, I guess most important with the state is your hunter orange, a good rifle and pretty much that's all you really need is just to go out and enjoy your time by yourself or at a deer camp," said hunter Jason McCoy.
McCoy said the warmer weather in the forecast for the weekend will be better for hunters waking up before the sun rises.
This season runs from this Saturday until Tues, Nov. 20.
