Missouri Law Enforcement Cracks Down on Seat Belts
BOONE COUNTY - The Boone County Sheriff's Department joined with law enforcement around Missouri this past week for a "Click-It or Ticket" mobilization. During the enforcement efforts, deputies issued a total of 168 tickets including 36 seat belt tickets, four child safety seat tickets, and two hazardous moving violations. Tickets were issued for all traffic violations, not just for seat belt enforcement.
The mobilization was meant to crack down on Missouri's seatbelt violations. The Boone County Sheriff's Department had deputies patrolling extra shifts and conducting safety checkpoints.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, Missouri's seat belt use has remained relatively unchanged in the last six years. Missouri has 76 percent seat belt use, which is well below the national average of 85 percent.
