Missouri Leaders Scramble to Create Jobs
JEFFERSON CITY - Lawmakers and business leaders met at the Capitol Tuesday to discuss priorities for the 2011 Legislative Session. Job growth and economic recovery are the most important topics for the new year. Business leaders from all over the state introduced six legislative priorities to protect Missouri jobs.
The business leaders call the initiative "Fix the Six". It outlines six revenue-neutral proposals that will promote economic growth in the state. The legislative proposals target employment law reform, workers' compensation reform, franchise tax cap, minimum wage escalator elimination, tort reform, and unemployment insurance reform. They said fixing these six areas will put employers in a better position to hire more employees.
