ST. LOUIS (AP) - An eastern Missouri man faces up to four years in prison after pleading guilty in a hit-and-run crashed that killed a tow truck driver on Interstate 70.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports 21-year-old Aaron Bogue, of Imperial, pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene of an injury crash.
Fifty-one-year-old David Bense, of St. Louis, was struck and killed the night of April 16. Bense had been putting cones on I-70 in St. Louis near a disabled vehicle.
Another motorist saw the deadly crash and followed Bogue off the interstate while calling police.
Members of the victim's family had wanted a stiffer charge. They said prosecutors told them Bogue thought he had hit an animal, and that blood tests were inconclusive in showing if he had been impaired.
