Missouri man sentenced in 2016 murder-for-hire plot
SEDALIA (AP) — A man in Missouri who was accused of a murder-for-hire plot las year has been sentenced after receiving a lesser charge.
The Sedalia Democrat reports 45-year-old Terry Johnson entered a guilty plea Monday to a charge of first degree assault. He was sentenced to one year with credit for time already served.
Johnson and 43-year-old Wendy McGinnis were both initially charged in May with first degree conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutor Bill Chapman says McGinnis was deemed incompetent to proceed after a mental exam.
Court documents show that a confidential informant for the Missouri State Highway Patrol had a conversation in April 2016 with Johnson and McGinnis during which McGinnis said she was willing to pay someone to kill her husband, who she claimed sexually assaulted her daughter.
