Missouri Men's Basketball is victorious in exhibition opener
COLUMBIA - Mizzou Men's Basketball edged out the Central Missouri Mules in an exhibition game on Friday night 66-59.
After finishing in the cellar of the SEC the past two seasons, the Tigers were back on the court Friday night against in-state foe Central Missouri. While the Mules only held a led for a few short moments in the game, their defense made it difficult for the Tigers to run their offense.
The Tigers were held to just 23-56 shooting for the game. Kevin Puryear, coming off SEC All-Freshman Team honors, was 0-7 from the field.
The bright side for the Tigers was their newcomers who accounted for 44 of the team's 66 points. Freshman Frankie Hughes chipped in 15 points and six rebounds.
Mizzou will tip off the regular season at home against Alabama A&M on Sunday, Nov. 13.
