Missouri pitcher awarded with SEC honors
COLUMBIA - The SEC named Missouri's Michael Plassmeyer as SEC co-pitcher of the week on Monday, following his first career shutout on Saturday versus Alabama.
In the shutout, Plassmeyer only allowed four baserunners, striking out seven batters on the day. The junior pitcher retired 16-straight hitters from the first to the sixth inning, which was the longest streak of retired batters for the program this season and in Plassmeyer's career.
The shutout over Alabama marked his fourth start in conference play, pitching 29.1 SEC innings. In conference play, Plassmeyer has only allowed four runs, 20 hits and four walks.
Plassmeyer now ranks fifth in the SEC among pitchers with a 1.99 ERA and second in strikeouts with 65.
