Missouri Police Chief Hurt in Motorcycle Wreck
LEADWOOD, Mo. - The police chief in the eastern Missouri town of Leadwood is hospitalized with a broken leg and contusions after an off-duty motorcycle accident.
Chief Dale Newman was injured about 5 p.m. Monday. The Park Hills Daily Journal reports that Newman stopped to make a left turn. The driver of a Ford Ranger didn't see Newman stop and struck the rear of the motorcycle.
Newman was initially listed in serious condition but Mayor Dennis Parks says the 45-year-old chief could be released soon from the hospital.
The driver of the truck was unhurt. It wasn't clear if he would face charges.
