JEFFERSON CITY - Displaced Hostess workers met with the state's Rapid Response Team Friday morning. The Department of Economic Development is working with displaced workers to inform them of programs the state has to assist with the job hunt.

The Rapid Response team hosted similar meetings in Boonville after the bakery closed last month. The Department of Economic Development said 60 people went to those meetings.

The Jefferson City Hostess distribution center employed 12 workers. Several went to the Department of Economic Development to get help with their job hunt on Friday.

Unemployment numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday show the nationwide unemployment rate was 7.7% in November. That is the lowest unemployment rate since 2008. The food manufacturing sector lost 12,300 jobs in November. Out of all employment sectors, this sector lost the second most jobs across the country.

Missouri's employment numbers will be released December 21st.
