Missouri Screening More Newborns
It costs about $100 per child to screen for all 29 serious, but treatable, conditions.
"I believe most parents, no matter how well informed you are in pregnancy, have no idea this goes on. They think children are screened for everything the moment they're born in the hospital," said Jill Wood, March of Dimes volunteer.
The March of Dimes' annual report showed Missouri doctors and hospitals have more than doubled the number of screenings required by law in the past year.
