Missouri Students Featured In Regional Earthquake Video
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A fourth-grade class at a Missouri
school is featured in an earthquake preparedness video that will be shown to people throughout the South and Midwest.
In the video, students in Rhonda Allen's class at Thorpe Gordon Elementary School in Jefferson City demonstrate the "drop, cover and hold on" method of self-protection.
The video was released last week by the Central United States Earthquake Consortium, a group that teaches people in the region how to stay safe in earthquakes.
The State Emergency Management Agency first shot a video of Allen's class doing the drill in December. The earthquake consortium saw the video on the Internet and decided the class would be a good example for other states.
