Missouri Teacher Accused of Molesting Young Boys
GRAIN VALLEY (AP) - A suburban Kansas City elementary school teacher is charged with molesting four students, and police are asking parents of any other possible victims to come forward. Matthew J. Nelson, 33, was charged Wednesday with one count of first-degree child molestation and three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon and is being held at the Jackson County jail on $250,000 cash bond. The Kansas City Star reports that the boys, ages 7 to 9, were students at Prairie Branch Elementary School in the Grain Valley School District, where Nelson has taught for several years. He is also a soccer coach at Grain Valley High School. As of Thursday, online court records did not list an attorney for Nelson.
