Missouri trial ordered for woman in corpse-abandonment case
NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) — A woman has been ordered to stand trial in southwestern Missouri on charges that she helped dumping a man's body along a road.
The Joplin Globe reports 39-year-old Brandy House waived her Newton County preliminary hearing and was ordered to be tried on the charge of abandonment of a corpse.
Prosecutors allege House assisted 36-year-old Derek Reeves in dumping the body of a 43-year-old man who died in 2015 at a Neosho park for recreational vehicles. The decomposed body was found wrapped in a sleeping bag.
A medical examiner couldn't determine the cause of death.
That man's name hasn't been released because police haven't located relatives.
No charges have been filed in the man's death.
Reeves has pleaded guilty to corpse abandonment and is serving a five-year sentence.
