Missouri Volleyball Wins Third Straight, Tops UCA
COLUMBIA - The Mizzou volleyball team earned its third straight win after topping Central Arkansas, 3-0 (28-26, 25-23, 25-10), on Monday night at the Hearnes Center. The win improves the Tigers to 17-7 overall this season and it is their final non-conference match of the regular season. Senior middle hitter Brittney Brimmage was the Tigers' top offensive performer on Monday with 10 kills on .643 hitting with two blocks.
Aside from Brimmage, reigning Big 12 Player of the Week Lisa Henning led the Tigers with 15 total points as she tallied nine kills with a career-best five service aces in the win. She also nearly finished with a double-double as she collected 10 digs in the win. As a team, Mizzou hit .340, led by Brimmage's .643 clip while several other Tigers hit very well on the night.
Sophomore setter Molly Kreklow had a nice match as well, spreading 34 assists while tallying two kills, two aces and four total blocks. In the back row, senior libero Priscilla Armendariz led the way with 14 digs while Henning also finished in double-digits with 10.
Mizzou and the Sugar Bears played pretty closely through the first two sets before Mizzou was able to pull away late in each of the two frames. Mizzou found a way to take a 2-0 lead into intermission with 28-26 and 25-23 set wins.
Out of intermission, Mizzou's offense was firing on all cylinders as the Tigers jumped all over the Sugar Bears in the third. In fact, Mizzou hit .520 with 13 kills and no errors in the final frame as the Tigers took the final set, 25-10, clinching the match.
Mizzou will be back in action on Saturday in Austin, Texas, for a clash with the Texas Longhorns at 5 p.m.
