COLUMBIA - After not making the NCAA tournament for the first time in six years, the Missouri Tigers were selected as a No. 2 seed in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
The Tigers first game will be this Tuesday against No. 7 Davidson at Mizzou Arena at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2. With a win, the Tigers will move on in the 32-team tournament to face the winner of the Southern Miss-Toledo matchup for a chance to play in the quarterfinals.
After starting the season 12-1 in non-conference play, Missouri found trouble in their conference games, going 9-9 overall, and 2-7 in road contests. The Tigers exited the conference tournament in the quarterfinals, losing to top-seeded Florida 72-49.
Missouri is one of four SEC teams in the NIT, joining Arkansas, Georgria, and LSU.
If the Tigers win their first three games, the semi-finals and finals will take place April 1 and 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
