Missouri Woman Guilty for Conspiring to Kill a Mother and Unborn Child
MARBLE HILL, Mo. (AP) -- A southeast Missouri woman faces up to 15 years in prison after admitting her role in a plot that killed a mother, her unborn child and a 15-year-old boy.
Forty-year-old Michelle Lawrence, of Chaffee, pleaded guilty Friday to conspiracy to commit murder. The Southeast Missourian reports she'll be sentenced Aug. 26 in Bollinger (BUHL'-in-gur) County Circuit Court, where the case was moved from Cape Girardeau County.
Lawrence was accused of enlisting two men to kill her estranged husband at his Cape Girardeau home in October 2009. But John Lawrence was at work when someone broke in and opened fire, killing his girlfriend, 30-year-old Jamie Lynn Orman; her unborn child; and her 15-year-old son.
One co-defendant pleaded guilty earlier to one count of second-degree murder. The other faces trial Aug. 1 on three counts of first-degree murder.
