Missouri Woman's Book Honest Look At Cancer Fight
BERNIE, Mo. (AP) -- When Becky Dennington was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, some things were simply too scary to say out loud.
Writing, she said, offered a form of therapy.
First, it was through a blog, "Deep Thoughts by Beck," that kept friends and family of the now 36-year-old resident of Bernie, Mo., up to date. The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that a book of her writings was released late last year through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Now deemed cancer-free, Dennington says her experience with cancer has made her a better, happier person because she is so grateful for every minute.
The book is an honest portrayal of the ups and downs of her battle with cancer, from diagnosis through the trials of chemotherapy and radiation.
