COLUMBIA - The University of Missouri Department of Athletics has promoted veteran fundraiser Carly Northup to Assistant Athletic Director for External Engagement, as announced today. Northup, who has been with Mizzou's Tiger Scholarship Fund since July of 2008, will direct a newly-formed division within the External Operations umbrella, called External Engagement.
This department will focus on creating new initiatives to expand customer service, gameday experience and fan appreciation at all Athletic events. Northup will also have continued oversight of TSF donor stewardship and cultivation, while her External Engagement staff will also focus on special events, booster groups and premium seating service.
She will also oversee efforts to continuously offer opportunities for former student-athletes to remain actively involved with Mizzou Athletics, and will serve as Athletics' main contact in the service of various corporate contracts.
"We are very pleased to announce Carly's well-deserved promotion, and are excited for the direction and leadership she will bring to this new strategic initiative," said Deputy Director of Athletics Doug Gillin. "We have identified a need for Athletics to increase the focus on our donors, alumni and fans, and analyze how we can continually improve their experiences with us, whether it's on a game day or a routine TSF encounter. Carly has already formed meaningful relationships with countless internal and external customers. She understands the need for Mizzou Athletics to continue to focus on our various different groups of supporters and make sure they have a first-class experience every time they interact with Mizzou Athletics. She is the perfect fit for this new role," he said.
Since coming to Mizzou five years ago, Northup has been part of the TSF staff which has seen record increases in membership numbers and giving to Tiger Athletics.
Northup came to Mizzou from West Virginia University, where she earned a Master's degree in Sport Management and worked as assistant director of development for WVU Athletics. She is a 2002 graduate of Liberty University.
