Mizzou Baseball Completes Joplin Benefit Series Against Iowa
COLUMBIA - Missouri Tigers baseball tied the Iowa Hawkeyes 3-3 Sunday to complete a two game Joplin benefit series at Taylor Stadium.
The Tigers rallied to erase a three run deficit starting in the 5th inning. The rally was ignited by Brannon Champagne who had a sacrifice bunt and a two-run single in the seventh to tie the game at three runs apiece.
Missouri had good pitching throughout the game beginning with Rob Zastryzny who pitched three innings, recording four strike outs. The Tigers' bullpen was very clutch the rest of the game, using seven pitchers and only gave up one run through the last six innings.
The Tigers beat the Hawkeyes 9-1 Saturday and with the tie, the tigers finish their exhibition season with a record of 2-0-1.
The goal of the two games was to raise money for the Joplin Little League which is trying to rebuild after the destructive tornados that struck the area last May. 100 percent of the proceeds went to the Joplin relief funds.
