Mizzou baseball drops series opener to Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee - The No. 20 Mizzou baseball team dropped its series opener against Tennessee, 5-2, on Thursday night. The loss drops the Tigers to 22-12 and 8-5 in SEC play (7-3 against SEC East teams).
Junior Reggie McClain allowed just three hits through four innings but then gave up a two-run homer to reigning SEC Player of the Week Christian Stewart in the bottom of the sixth inning. Senior Jake Ivory got his first career home run in the top of the seventh inning to cut the lead in half, but the Tigers couldn't overcome the deficit.
Game two of the series will be Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
