Mizzou baseball wins in walkoff fashion
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Missouri baseball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 2-0 walkoff victory over Sam Houston State Friday in its second game at the Kleberg Bank College Classic.
Freshman catcher Brett Bond hit his first career home run in the bottom of the ninth to break a scoreless tie and win the game. That's the first walkoff homer for Mizzou baseball since 2009, according to the team.
The Tigers cashed in on a tremendous pitching performance by starter Reggie McClain, who won SEC pitcher of the week honors last week. McClain threw a complete game shutout, allowing four hits and no walks, while striking out four Bearkats. That extended McClain's shutout streak to 17.0 innings to start the 2015 season.
Mizzou baseball will play the host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 7 p.m.
