Mizzou basketball loses inaugural game in Kim Anderson era
COLUMBIA - The Missouri Tigers did not start out on a very good foot in the Kim Anderson coaching era.
Montaque Gill-Ceaser had 21 points on 9-23 shooting in a 69-61 loss to the UMKC Kangaroos.
Wes Clark was the only other Tiger in double figures. He had 13 points.
Johnathan Williams III added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks as well.
The Roos got the lead early in the first half and maintained that lead for the final 34 minutes of the game.
Martez Harrison had 26 points to lead all scorers. UMKC shot roughly the same as Mizzou from the floor, but were more than 20 percent better from three and almost 30 percent better from the free throw line.
Anderson used 10 players and was unable to use freshman JaKeenan Gant who was withheld from play because the school is reviewing his eligibility. It is unclear how long Gant will be out.
The Tigers next game is Sunday evening against Valparaiso at Mizzou Arena.
