COLUMBIA - Missouri basketball won for the first time since Dec. 6, defeating Arkansas 83-78 in the second "Rally for Rhyan" game Saturday.

The victory was the second in two seasons for Mizzou on "Rally for Rhyan" games; they won last year's game against Tennessee. The win Saturday ended a 13-game losing streak and is the first in conference play for the Tigers.

Rhyan Loos is the six-year old daughter of Mizzou coaching staff member Brad Loos. She is currently in a battle with pediatric cancer. The "Rally for Rhyan" games are to fundraise for further pediatric cancer research.

Attendance was listed at 11,434, the highest at Mizzou arena this season.

Mizzou (6-16, 1-9 SEC) were led in points by Jordan Barnett's 17. K.J. Walton, Kevin Puryear, and Cullen VanLeer joined him in double figures.

The 83 points scored by the Tigers was the highest total they've had since conference play started.

Mizzou got off to a hot start, scoring 47 points on 62 percent shooting in the first half. However, Arkansas made a run in the second half and hit four of their final five shots to push the Tigers.

Arkansas (17-6, 6-4 SEC), led by former Mizzou coach Mike Anderson, won the first meeting against the Tigers in Fayetteville 92-73 on Jan. 14, but couldn't recover from their slow start.

Mizzou travels to College Station Wednesday to face the Texas A&M Aggies.
