Mizzou Basketball's Clarkson Earns National, SEC Recognition
COLUMBIA - Mizzou guard Jordan Clarkson was named both the National Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and the SEC Player of the Week by the conference on Monday. The awards come after the junior continued his scoring streak against West Virginia and UCLA last week.
In the Tigers' win over the Mountaineers Thursday, Clarkson dropped a team-high 25 points. He then posted another 21 in Missouri's matchup with the then-No. 18 Bruins Saturday. He also averaged 5.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over the two games.
Clarkson has been on a roll lately. He now has scored at least 20 points in each of Mizzou's last five contests and leads the SEC with 20.2 points per game.
It is the second time this season the Tulsa transfer has earned the conference award.
The Tigers are now ranked No. 24 in the latest AP poll and will play Western Michigan Sunday at the Mizzou Arena.
