Mizzou Closes Non-Conference Play With Win, 51-13
COLUMBIA - Carl Gettis recovered a fumble for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage Saturday, and the Tigers never looked back, rolling over Miami of Ohio by a 51-13 final to close out its non-conference schedule.
Running backs Henry Josey, Marcus Murphy, Devion Moore, and Kendial Lawrence all ran for scores in the victory. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert completed 15 of 21 passes for 187 yards, connecting with Wes Kemp for his lone touchdown pass.
Miami backup quarterback Austin Boucher hit Jamal Rogers for the only Redhawk touchdown with 1:40 remaining in the game.
Mizzou kicker Grant Ressel was 6-for-7 on extra point attempts. His miss in the third quarter ends the school's streak of 252 consecutive extra-point kicks made since 2005, just 10 shy of the NCAA record.
The Tigers open Big 12 play against Colorado on October 9.
