Mizzou Coaching Duo Wayne and Susan Kreklow Earn 750th Win
LAWRENCE, KS - Mizzou coaching duo Wayne and Susan Kreklow earned their 750th win as the Mizzou volleyball team defeated archrival Kansas, 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Horesji Family Activity Center.
"Obviously we are excited to hit 750 wins, but the big thing is that this is another great win for us this season," head coach Wayne Kreklow - who now sits just one shy of 400 wins in his career - said. "Kansas is a very good team and this is never an easy place for us to come in and play but I thought we did a nice job of battling and we won a lot of close sets tonight."
Sophomore outside hitter Lisa Henning hit the 20-kill mark for the sixth time in her last 11 matches as she finished with a match-high 22 kills on .455 hitting in the win. Henning led the offensive charge for the Tigers with her 22 kills as she averaged 5.5 per set. Her .455 attack percentage on Wednesday marked her top hitting performance when tallying more than 20 kills in her career.
Mizzou also received a nice performance from freshman Emily Wilson who tallied 14 kills on .273 hitting in the match and senior Brittney Brimmage posted 10 kills on .389 hitting as well.
Sophomore setter Molly Kreklow had one of her finest matches of the season, having 50-assists for the fourth time this season with 51. Kreklow also added 15 digs in the match to tally her 10th double-double in her last 14 matches and her 11th of the season.
Defensively, Mizzou was led by senior libero Priscilla Armendariz who collected 16 digs, a match-high. Freshman Jade Hayes also had a nice night in the back row with seven digs while passing as well as she has all season. Classmate Sarah Meister also added six digs in the match. Brimmage led the Tigers with four blocks and both Henning and Whitney Little each added two.
