COLUMBIA -- The Missouri Tigers remained undefeated at Mizzou Arena and avenged a mid-season road loss with a 89-76 win over LSU on Saturday.
After Mizzou (21-8, 10-6 Southeastern Conference) took a 6-0 lead to start the game, LSU went 8-of-14 from three-point range to quickly close the gap and take the lead. LSU led 25-12 when Missouri called their first timeout of the game. A tip shot by Alex Oriakhi midway through the first half sparked a 19-4 run to lead Mizzou to a 31-29 advantage with 5:08 left in the half. Mizzou led 43-39 at halftime.
After a Phil Pressey three-pointer to start the second half, the Tigers never looked back and led the entire half, leading by as many as 15. LSU cut the lead to 8 with less than 2 minutes to play, but it was not enough to overcome a Mizzou team that shot 58% from the field. An Oriakhi layup and a dunk from Keion Bell quickly put the Tigers back up 13.
Missouri had 5 players score in double figures, led by Laurence Bowers with 23 points. Bowers and Oriakhi also recorded double-doubles, each with 10 rebounds.
Anthony Hickey led LSU (17-10, 8-8) with 22 points.
Mizzou returns to action against Arkansas on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.
