A perfect record and championship hopes are at stake this weekend for the MU volleyball and MU football team.
The volleyball team is now a national-best 31-0 after beating South Carolina on the road in three straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-16), on Sunday. On Friday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. the team will play one of their last two home games against Mississippi State.
If the Tigers win then they will clinch the SEC championship.
The team has three more matches left and two of them will be against teams they beat earlier this season, Kentucky and Arkansas.
The No. 8 MU football team (9-1, 5-1 SEC) will face No. 24 Ole Miss (7-3, 3-3 SEC) in Mississippi on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. The Tigers are playing to stay ahead of South Carolina in the race for the SEC East title and for chance to play in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Since South Carolina beat Florida, the Tigers will have to beat Ole Miss on the road and Texas A&M at Faurot Field to win the SEC East. James Franklin will return to the field for the game, but Maty Mauk is still expected to play.
Ole Miss has not lost at home this season and the three losses on their record came from games against No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn, No. 12 Texas A&M.
