COLUMBIA -- The Missouri Gymnastics team will head to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the 2012 NCAA Regional Championship on April 7. The event will take place in the Barnhill Arena at 4 p.m. The bid marks the Tigers' 11th consecutive regional appearance, and the 24th appearance in program history. This will also be the second time this season that the Tigers will compete against Arkansas, Boise State and UCLA.

Joining Mizzou at the 2012 Fayetteville Regional will be No. 3 UCLA, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 15 Boise State, New Hampshire and Maryland. Missoui will start the meet on vault as well.

"It couldn't have happened better," head coach Rob Drass said. "We have seen each of the teams ranked ahead of us this year, so we know what to expect. We are excited about the opportunity to move on to the National Championships."

The Tigers traveled to Norman, Oklahoma for the 2011 NCAA Regional Competition, recording a team score of 194.175 to finish in sixth place. Then a junior, Mary Burke recorded a 39.175 all-around score to take fourth in the competition.

In addition to the six competing teams, there will be five all-around competitors from non-qualifying schools as well as individual event qualifiers participating in the each regional competition. The top two finishing teams and top two all-around competitors will advance to the 2011 NCAA National Championship in Duluth, Georgia. The top two event finalists from a non-qualifying team will also advance to the national championship in that event only.

The NCAA National Championship will take place on April 20-22 at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia. There will be a practice day on April 19, and the semifinal rounds will be held at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20. Super Six Team Finals will take place on April 21 and Individual Event Finals will take place on April 22.
