Mizzou Gymnastics Takes Second at Arkansas Quad Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Missouri Gymnastics earned a 194.300 score at the Arkansas Quad Meet on Friday, March 1, to take second place. Arkansas came out on top with a 196.525 score. Lindenwood placed third at the meet with a team score of 191.125 and Centenary took fourth at the meet with a 190.525. Missouri continued the trend of setting new career high scores at this meet, as three Tigers put up new personal bests, and senior Sandra Ostad earned a season-high score on the vault.

Missouri started the quad meet out on the bars, putting up a team total of 48.875. Sophomore Laura Kappler set a new career high on the event, earning 9.775 score. Updike led Mizzou on the event with a 9.825, and Miranda Eubank posted a 9.800. Mackenzie McGill helped the Tigers out with a 9.750 score, while Medrea recorded a 9.725.

Next in the rotation was beam, and the career-highs kept coming. Freshman Rachel Henderson put up a career high 9.750 for her aggressive beam routine, and junior Mackenzie McGill earned the same. Updike followed Henderson in the lineup with a team-high 9.825 score on the event, which also earned her a third place finish at the meet. Kappler again competed in the lead-off spot earning a 9.775 score, and senior Tori Howard posted a 9.725 to contribute to the team total.

Tigers hit the floor in the third rotation, holding steady in second place. After the floor rotation, Missouri had a 145.450 team total, and Arkansas led with a 147.250. Howard led the team on floor with her energetic routine as she scored a 9.800 on the event. Eubank put up a career-high 9.750 for her floor routine. Junior Cathryn Aliceaacosta also contributed to the team total with a 9.650 score.

Updike again led the Tigers in the final rotation as she earned a 9.875 on the event to take second place at the meet. Ostad anchored the lineup with a season-high 9.800 score, and Howard earned the same. Eubank contributed to the team total on the event with a 9.700 for her vault, and Kappler was the lead off competitor with a 9.650 as well. Missouri put up a 48.850 on floor, and finished the meet with a 194.300 team total.

Missouri will return to Columbia to host Illinois on March 8 for Senior Night. The meet is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Hearnes Center.
