COLUMBIA -- The University of Missouri Athletic Department has presented a one-year contract extension for Head Women's Basketball Coach Robin Pingeton, Director of Athletics Alden announced on Friday. Pingeton's contract currently runs through April 8, 2016. The extension would keep Pingeton on the Mizzou sidelines through 2017.

"We are excited to extend Robin's contract," Alden said. "She and her staff have continued to take the program in the right direction on the court, in the classroom and out in the community. They know how to build a program the right way and we're excited about the future of Mizzou women's basketball and thankful to have Robin as a representative of the Athletic Department and the entire University of Missouri."

"I am extremely grateful and appreciative of Mike Alden and the administrators at Missouri for having the confidence in me and my staff to lead the Missouri Women's Basketball team and for having the confidence to extend my contract for another year," Pingeton said. "We will continue to work as hard as we can to produce a product that the community, the students and the administration can be proud of and embrace. My staff and I are tremendously excited to be able to continue the journey we have started and build on the foundation that has been laid. I am looking forward to the upcoming years and seasons and am very proud and thankful to be part of the Mizzou Family."

Pingeton and the Tigers close out the regular season portion of the 2011-12 campaign at Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Kansas City to compete in the 2012 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship March 7-10.
