BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Missouri sophomore tailback Marcus Murphy has picked up his second weekly honor of the year from the Southeastern Conference. On Monday, the SEC named Murphy Co-Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the University of Central Florida. Murphy shares this week's honor with Alabama wide receiver Cristion Jones.
On Saturday, Murphy returned a punt 66-yards for a touchdown to help the Tigers beat UCF, 21-16. His touchdown gave Mizzou a 14-10 lead in the third quarter. He also recorded three punt returns for 70 yards and a 33-yard kickoff return in the game.
Murphy received the first SEC weekly honor for the Tigers in week one after his pair of punt return TDs accumulated for 206 all-purpose yards and made him the first Mizzou player to return two punt returns for touchdowns in the same game against Southeastern Louisiana.
Mizzou's Kenronte Walker picked up the second weekly honor for the team after he was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week in week three. Walker deflected a pass and intercepted one against Arizona State to give the Tigers their second win of the season.
