Mizzou Softball Sweeps Double Header
The first game marked the home opener for the Tigers. Freshman Jana Hainey notched her first win of the season. She struck out seven of the 10 batters she faced.
Mizzou capitalized on three UMKC errors in the second inning when the team scored seven runs. Leanna Bowers led the Tigers with three RBI's.
The second game marked the first shutout for the Tiger pitching staff. The staff was led by sophomore Megan Dennis, as she picked up her first win of the season.
Sophomore Sara Simmons hit her first home run of the season. Later in the game, senior Alli Kennewell stole home. The Tigers picked up most of their runs when UMKC's pitching staff walked in five runs. Both victories were recorded in only five innings.
The Tigers will travel this weekend to California for the Stanford Invitational. Mizzou is set to take on Pacific, twelfth ranked Stanford, and Santa Clara.
