Mizzou softball takes a loss in SEC series opener
COLUMBIA, MO. - "While we took the loss today, it was great to see our offense come back like they did," Coach Fogue said.
Mizzou softball may have seen a better offense, but it wasn't enough to defeat Tennessee. The Tigers lost 11-3 in the final game of the 2018 Southeastern Conference series opener.
"We came out well and reached the scoreboard first in the third inning," Fogue said. "In the bottom half, we gave Tennessee an additional out on a fielding mistake and that really opened the floodgates for them."
Even though Tennessee dominated the scoreboard, the Tigers showed they weren't going to give up so easily.
Freshman center outfielder Hatti Moore led the game with one run, double, walk, and RBI.
Infield redshirt junior Amanda Sanchez brought her safely reached base streak to 23 games after an RBI single in the fourth.
Next, the Tigers will take on Illinois in a doubleheader Wednesday, March 14 at Lindenwood University. Then, they host Mississippi State for their SEC home-opener Friday-Sunday, March 16-18.
