COLUMBIA - No. 25 Mizzou softball claimed a series-opening victory over No. 24 Arkansas Friday night, 1-0.

Tiger starting pitcher, senior Cheyenne Baxter (9-2), threw a complete game shutout. She worked around four hits and two walks to keep the Razorbacks off the scoreboard, striking out eight.

Baxter finished March with a 6-1 record over 11 appearances, including eight starts, with a 1.77 ERA, five complete games and two shutouts.

Since the turn of April, Baxter is 2-0, allowing one run in 13.1 innings. She defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide April 2.

Baxter was selected on April 4 as the Week Eight Louisville Slugger / NFCA Division I National Pitcher of the Week as well as SEC Pitcher of the Week.

The lone Mizzou run was scored by freshman Gabby Garrison on a wild pitch in the third inning.

Mizzou (21-14, 4-5 SEC) and Arkansas (22-14, 2-11 SEC) will meet again Saturday 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
