Mizzou Tennis Posts Win Over Brown

ANN ARBOR, MI -- The No. 53 Mizzou tennis team earned a 4-0 win over No. 63 Brown Sunday morning in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Ann Arbor Mich. The Tigers improved to 2-1 in dual matches this season, while the Bears fell to 0-3.

In doubles action, the Mizzou team of senior Maria Christensen and junior Rachel Stuhlmann got the Tigers started with an 8-4 win over Brown's Jessica Harrow and Ammu Mandalap at No. 2. The Bears were victorious at No. 3 play as Sarah Kandath and Nikita Uberoi defeated sophomore Alex Clark and freshman Madison Rhyner, 8-4.

The doubles point came down to the match at No. 1. Mizzou's team of junior Cierra Gaytan-Leach and sophomore Elisha Gabb pulled out an 8-7 (5) win to put the Tigers up 1-0 heading into singles.

Missouri earned a 2-0 lead after Christensen notched a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kandath at No. 4 singles. Gaytan-Leach then responded after dropping the first set to emerge with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Krasowski at No. 1 action.

The Tigers clinched the 4-0 win as Clark defeated Mandalap at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

Mizzou travels to Akron, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 1 to face the Zips at Noon ET (11 a.m. CT).
