Mizzou Track Gives Strong Showing at Day One of Drake Relays
DES MOINES, IA - The Missouri track team headed to Iowa to compete in the annual Drake Relays, which requires athletes to qualify in order to compete drawing some of the best athletes from around the nation.
On Friday, the Missouri 4x800 relay team led the lady Tigers in the field. Laura Roxberg, Bailey Belvis, Landon Wachter, and Layne Moore took fifth overall with a time of 8:46.05. Lauren Greenfield threw 14.61m in the shot put, Hailey Twietmeyer threw 40.00m in the javelin, Megan Collins threw 46.26m in the discus and Camille Hayes jumped 1.70m in the high jump to help the women's team.
Brian Hancock led the men by making the finals in the pole vault and finishing third in the event with a vault of 5.15m. The men's 4x100 meter relay team featuring Josh Scott, Tucker Bounds, Tre Chambers and Mark Hughes clocked a time of 40.90. Brooks Mosier threw 16.42m in the shot put and junior Asa Wyatt threw 55.59m in the javelin for the men's team as well.
