MizzouRec Helps Set World Record
COLUMBIA - Mid-Missourians gathered at MizzouRec Tuesday morning as part of the World's Largest Swimming Lesson.
Last year was the inaugural event. Four thousand people from three continents participated setting a Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson.
The event's headquarters is in Orlando at Disney Typhoon Lagoon, but MizzouRec is an official host location.
The World's Largest Swimming Lesson was created as a platform to unite kids and adults in spreading drowning prevention awareness.
According to event organizers, drowning is the second leading cause of unintended death for kids between the ages of one and 14.
The event will be held at 10 a.m.
