Mo. Community Colleges to Invest Millions in Manufacturing Training
WASHINGTON, Mo. - Missouri Community Colleges will invest $15 million in modern manufacturing training through MOManufacturingWINs, a statewide training network in modern manufacturing.
The statewide consortium of colleges will use the money to create or expand existing training programs in modern manufacturing. The program focused on the manufacturing industry because it offers immediate and long-term employment opportunities, according to a press release.
The colleges project that this program will provide opportunities for approximately 3,300 Missourians.
Working together through the Missouri Community College Association, nine of Missouri's two-year public colleges applied for these federal job training funds. These colleges will collaborate to create a certification training model, as approved by the National Association of Manufacturers, according to a press release.
The nine colleges involved include: East Central College, Linn State Technical College, Metropolitan Community College, Mineral Area College, North Central Missouri College, Ozarks Technical Community College, State Fair Community College, St. Charles Community College and St. Louis Community College.
