Mo. Man Pleads Guilty in Heroin Death
JEFFERSON CITY - A Columbia man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of heroin distribution resulting in a death.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 37-year-old Ellison Lee Hutchison Jr. entered the plea Thursday in federal court in Jefferson City. He'll be sentenced under his plea agreement to 22 years in prison without parole.
Prosecutors said Hutchison admitted selling a quarter-gram of heroin for $45 to Maximillion Shackelford, also of Columbia, on Jan. 23, 2012.
Shackelford was found dead at his apartment later that day of what an autopsy determined was a heroin overdose.
