Mo. Senate Ends Filibuster, Passes Stimulus Money
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- The Missouri Senate has ended an all-night filibuster and passed a bill reauthorizing the expenditure of about $450 million in federal stimulus money.
The 20-8 vote Thursday morning came after senators agreed to trim about $14 million from the bill -- mainly by eliminating money intended for energy efficiency projects.
That was far less than originally sought by four senators who had delayed a vote on the bill because of concerns about growing federal spending.
The legislation now must return to the House.
