Moberly Woman Sentenced Prison for Killing Two Infants
Carla Kay Clay cried as she heard the sentence on Wednesday in Randolph County Circuit Court. She'll have no chance for parole. A jury convicted her in September of two counts of first-degree murder. Witness told police last year that Clay had drunkenly confessed to killing three-month-old Randy Bedford Jr. with a teddy bear and seven-week-old Audrey Bedford with a pillow. The baby boy died in June of 2003, and the infant girl in June of 2004. Jurors rejected claims that Clay's mother accidentally killed Audrey by rolling over on the baby as they slept on a couch. Clay had also argued that her son died when a teddy bear fell on him as he slept in his crib.
