Mobile Food Bank Needs Space in California
Until California gets an indoor center, volunteers will distribute food in the First Baptist Church parking lot.
"There are people here in Moniteau County that desperately need this food and we may have to discontinue the mobile food pantry if we can't find an inside location," said Rev. Collette Jones, pastor of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Ministerial Alliance of Churches.
The alliance hopes to find an indoor location for the Food Bank before this Thanksgiving, which is good news for California resident Patricia Kiesling.
"I am a diabetic and a heart patient," she explained, "and it's affording me my fruits and juices and things that I need that way."
So, Kiesling is optimistic because she knows local residents will continue to help each other.
"Because when the going gets rough, the people chip in," she said.
