JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Nixon is expanding protection for MoDOT highway employees, requiring motorists to slow down or change lanes when approaching state vehicles.
The new law takes effect August 28, but law enforcement will start watching out for motorists violating the new law early.
Nixon cut MoDOT's budget for the upcoming year from an average of $1.2 billion since 2006 to less than $600 million for the upcoming fiscal year.
